Dispensing Optician Member - any person deemed a qualified dispensing optician by the board, primarily engaged in the profession of optical dispensing, spectacle making or some related industry.  These members have full voting rights, and can be elected onto any Committee, and after the qualifying period sit as a Board member.

• Student Member - any person who is undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship in optical dispensing.

• Practice Membership – any business that conducts an optical dispensing practice employing at least one qualified optical dispenser.

• Associate member (non-voting) - any person employed in optical dispensing or spectacle making that has no formal qualification and has not attained The Association’s competency certificate.  Associate members have no voting rights but can be co-opted onto any committee as approved by the Board.

• Supplier Member (non-voting) – Any person employed in the industry that is a supplier to the industry of goods and or services and does not qualify as a dispensing optician member.  Supplier members have no voting rights but can be co-opted onto any committee as approved by the Board.
